Frequently Asked Questions

+ Do I need a prescription or physician’s referral to start?

No. California state law allows patients to have direct access to physical therapists. This means we are able to provide you the care and treatment you need immediately for up to 45 days or 12 visits without a physician’s prescription. Beyond this period, you are able to continue with Physical Therapy only after having received an in-person examination, a prescription, and approval of your Physical Therapist’s plan of care by a physician, osteopath or podiatrist certified in the state of California.

*Direct access allows you to save time, save money, and have faster recovery as you come straight to your musculoskeletal and injury-rehabilitation and prevention experts. *

+ Do you take insurance?

We are an out of network provider for all commercial PPO insurances. Being out of network allows us to work without the constraints of insurance companies and give you more time, more attention, more individualized care, and therefore better outcomes.

For your convenience and upon request, we will provide you with a super bill so that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement based on your out of network benefits. If you aren’t sure what your out of network benefits are, we recommend you contact your insurance company to determine how much you will be reimbursed once you meet your deductible. Also note that some insurance plans require a physician’s referral and/or pre-authorization for reimbursement of services.

+ What is the cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours notice. Though we understand life happens, and things can come up, a late cancellation or missed visit leaves a gap in the therapists' day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 24-hour notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24-hour notice of appointment cancellation will be charged 100% of the scheduled appointment cost.

+ What should I wear?

We recommend loose fitting clothing that allows you to move freely and provides access to the involved area.

+ How long are the sessions and how many will I need?

Sessions are about an hour and consist of 1-on-1 treatment directly from your licensed physical therapist. You will never be seen by an assistant or aide or left on a machine or modality.

In general, three to ten sessions can have a significant impact on most people’s conditions, and in some cases only one session can make a dramatic difference. For clients with more complex conditions, regular sessions for longer periods of time may be necessary, followed by an occasional tune-up to maintain health.

*Please note that physical therapy is not a “quick fix”. Though one of our goals is to help you decrease the pain or symptoms you are experiencing and make you more comfortable, the primary goal is to get to the root cause of the problem, correct it, and then help you become stronger and more resilient so that the chance of this occurring again in the future is significantly reduced. This may mean a little more time invested now but a savings of much more time, money and stress in the future. You will never regret taking the time to do it right.
